One of the hottest selling items on the Internet are information e-books. If you enjoy writing you can turn it into a money making venture. Here is a blueprint of what you need to do to get started in marketing your information e-books.
This is the process I use to create and market my e-books for money and also to create traffic to my websites. First thing I do is visit some of my favorite entrepreneur forums. What you want to do is find what people want and then create it. If you do it this way you will be much more successful. Spend some time in the forums lurking around. It is not necessary to participate at this time, you are only interested in ideas. After you have a couple of hot topics, it is time to do some research. Google is your friend here, you can find all you need just by using google. Follow these steps.
1. Generic search using your key words.
2. Specific search using keyword + articles
3. Specific search using keyword + info
These three type of searches will provide you with enough data to create your first rough draft. On your first rough draft your only concern will be to get as much information on paper, in your own words. Do not concern yourself with grammar and spelling. Just write until your run out of words.
Now take the pages you just created and begin to build your second draft. You will decide here if your book will have a table of contents, broken up into chapters and so on. Basically the second draft is going to be your first version of your e-book. I do not spend a lot of time on this version of the e-book. My goal is to put something together that allows it to take shape and allows me to give it to a few family members to read and critique. Finally you will take the information you gather from the critiques and assemble the final version of your e-book. People always ask me how long should it take to create an e-book from beginning to end. I always tell them there is no hard and fast rule. Sometimes I'll finish a e-book in one to two weeks, while other times it may take a month or more. it really depends on the size of the book and the topic. And that brings us to the size of your book., I like to shoot for 60 plus pages and anything past that is a bonus for me. If your going to sell the book then you want your buyers to feel they are getting something for their money. If its only 20 or 30 pages chances are you will not have much success selling.
There are two ways you can monetize your e-book. You can sell it or you can give it away. if your going to sell it make sure you follow the 60 plus page rule. The reason you might give it away is so you can make money from affiliate links. your goal with this business model is to get the book to as many people as possible. The free e-book will have affiliate links sprinkled throughout the pages. These affiliate links will be where you will generate your income from. This, by the way, should be decided after your first draft, but before version one of your e-book. If you decide to go the affiliate route, I suggest your e-book be a how-too book. Then you can suggest the tools they need to complete whatever you are teaching them. It's these tools they will purchase through your affiliate links. This business model depends on getting your e-book into as many peoples hand as possible.
If you want to sell your e-book then I suggest you go through ClickBank. They have the largest selection of e-books on the Internet and are very easy to setup and use.
The final and most important step is the design of your e-book cover. Spend sometime searching on google. There are many ways to create a e-book cover that will make your e-book more of a tangible item. I have tested this and every time I created a cover specific to my e-book it has always done better then using a generic cover. Trust me take the time and create your own personal cover for each of your e-books.
Creating e-books is not for everyone, but if you enjoy writing then you might want to consider turning this hobby into a home based business.
